Ahhh, can you believe that Summer is nearly over? We are expected to have a huge drop in temperatures here in Las Vegas next week...you know from 110 down to about 95....haha! I decided to do a search on Etsy for this weeks favorites using the word Autumn. When I started looking at all the wonderful items I realized I was really drawn to the ones with Pumpkins. Not sure why though I am a fan of orange.

Spiced Pumpkin Lavender Epic Lip Balm - Epically Epic Soap

Lampwork Glass Focal Bead - Jelveh Designs

Snuggly Pugkin Head Hat for Dogs - All You Need Is Pug

Pumpkin Patch Pair Handmade Glass Beads - Bastille Bleu Lampwork

Edible Chocolate Filled Candy Pumpkins (2 dozen!) - Andie's Specialty Sweets

Hope you enjoy these lovely orange pumpkins and have a great weekend!

Favorites for Friday

I have Lin from Duck and Wheel with String and Sharla over at Beaded Tail to thank for this weeks Favorites. If you happened to read their comments on my last post about New Year's Resolutions it got me thinking about rather than making a resolution how about set out to try to learn something new this year. With that in mind I picked a few lovely items that represent what I would love to learn though I doubt I'd be able to learn all this year since that would probably cost a small fortune. Needless to say, here are my picks for this week.

Silversmithing - Delicate Daisy & Branch Ring by zulasurfing

Lampworking - Clarabella Focal Bead by Charleston Beadworks

Knitting - Forest Elf Wrap Around Shrug Pattern by Janice Rosema

Resin Jewelry - Big Star of Sprinkles Ring by Athina Labella

So thanks Lin and Sharla for the great idea. I figure I'm still young enough that if I only get to learn one this year I have a few years left in me to try to get the rest in...lol.

Gorgeous Glass

There is one thing I haven't learned how to do and hope to one day give it a shot and that is making lampworked glass beads. Until then, I'll just drool over the works of the many talented lampwork artists out there. Through my "dropping" on Entrecard I found the blog Glass Muse and boy it was tough trying to choose from the many beautiful beads they sell on their site SortaFlowering Designs. I loved the many colors in the ones above and managed to find a few others that had some amazing colors too. I still have those ready for a project, what that project is I'm still working on! The beads used in the bracelet above are the Candy Shop Glass Round Lampwork Beads. I tried so hard to get some amazing shots to show the many colors and I hope I did them justice. Also, I wanted to do something with them that did not take away from their beauty. Sometimes in jewelry simple is better when you are using beads that you want to be the focus of the piece.

Jenelle and Daniel are the talented pair behind SortaFlowering Designs and they run a great business together and their customer service is great. The orange beads in the earrings above are also from them. I could just sit all day and stare at their beads. Their studio is in North Carolina, U.S.A. and they both handmake the beads. What a great life! I'm lucky if I can get my husband to look at my new creations much less be interested (lol). If you are a jewelry designer than you should definitely check out their shop or if you just love to look at pretty things than you should as well.
