Favorites For Friday

As I was watching the news yesterday and today, the local weatherman was telling us here in Las Vegas that we were going to be in the 80's but that in the North East of the US .... not so good. We don't get a lot of flowers here in the desert but at least the weather is a bit better right now. For those of you who are not getting any good weather at the moment, just think of this - April Showers bring May Flowers. Until then, here are a few lovely flower items I found over on Etsy. Hopefully if you are having some bad weather they will brighten up your day a bit.

Hand-painted shot glass - Tanya ZC

Handmade Paper Flowers - More Paper Than Shoes

Daisy Head Maisy Lampwork Ring - Auntie Di's De-Lites

Organic Hat - Heart Smiles

Parrot Tulip 8x10 Fine Art Photograph - Sharon Welton Photography

I do have to add that the one bad thing about this time of year in Las Vegas is the awful pollen and as I'm writing this post I have the door open but I'm sneezing like you would not believe! Ahhh the price you pay, I'd still rather have this weather and the sneezing.

ENJOY!

Unless you have been living under a rock then I'm sure you are aware of the devastation left by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. This weeks favorites are all items that the sellers are donating all or a portion of the proceeds to the relief effort to help the Japanese people. 'Nuff said.

Japan Disaster Relief Key Chains, All Sales Donated - Top Knotch Gear

Bird's Nest Necklace, 20% of proceeds to Japan Earthquake Relief - Menuet Designs

Hopefully through sales at these shops we can help make a little bit of difference.

Favorites For Friday

No green beer here but I do have some very interesting items to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. All of these items are from Etsy (as always) and boy was there quite a few to choose from. I love how something is just green and someone has used the tag of St. Patrick's Day but I guess if you are going to celebrate it then you need something green ... no matter what it may be! These were a few of my favorites.

McTavish The Irishman - Mary's Monkeys

May The Road Rise Blessing Trinity Knot - My Serenity Way

Glass Lampwork Four Leaf Clover Pendant - Boomwire

Guinness Sugar Cookies & Shamrock Cookie Nibbles - Crafted Cookies

Lucky Charm & Silver Shamrock Earrings - Ali C's Creations

The one nice thing (in my opinion) about St. Patricks Day is the fact that no matter whether you are Irish or not....no matter what religion, you can celebrate the day. The Irish are very welcoming like that, more than happy to have everyone join in with the celebrations. Hope yours is a good one.

Favorites for Friday

Spring has sprung here in Las Vegas, well at least for now it has. That may change in a week but right now it is the warmest it has been for ages. I actually walked to work without a jacket on Thursday morning. Spring is the best time of year here in Las Vegas though because we are in the desert you don't have the lovely flowers and trees blossoming as much as you do elsewhere. Shame as it's one of my most favorite things about Spring. So this week I decided to share some Spring from Etsy with you.

Brighten Up Your Day Wreath - Horn's Home and Garden

Blue Potpourri Twirl Dress - Berry Patch USA

Fresh Everyday Bag - Sinem Inugur

Fuschia, Purple & White Flower Felt - Cherry Blossom Way

Ostara Pastel Eggs Candles - White Magick Shoppe

If the weather has not cheered up where you are yet then I hope these items give you hope.....it won't be long!

Favorites For Friday

Time - something we never have enough of (along with money). Despite that, I cannot walk out of the house without a watch on. The other day I was walking out the door for work and as I went to shut the door I realized...no watch! I ran back in to put one on. Yes, I know there are clocks all over and people with watches, clocks on computers but I just feel naked without one. So this weeks favorites are some really lovely watches I found over on Etsy.

Leather Watchband with Face - Creative Urges

Custom Made Beadwork Watch - Gina D Jewels

Silver Plated Quartz Crystal Watch - Jo's Jewels

Purple Passion Watch - Savoir Faire Creations

Custom Leather Cuff with Polo Watch - The Leather Wrist

These pretties won't give us more time in the day but at least we can look good while watching the clock!

Favorites For Friday

Well, Monday is Valentine's Day and my personal preference for a gift is candy. I make my own jewelry so that is no good and flowers are pretty but they die after a short time. At least with candy you can savor it! So this weeks favorites are some candy items, both the real thing and a few that are inspired by candy.

Sterling Silver Pink Candy Ring - Micah Jones Studio

Dark Chocolate Fluer de Sel Heart - Calabasas Candy Co.
(MMMM Dark Chocolate is my fave!)

Red Hots Lip Candy - For Goodness Grape

Cupcake Magnet or Charm - Shimrit'a

A True Sweetheart Necklace - Stoopidgerl's Shop

At very least, looking at these yummy items won't add any pounds or kilos. Though if I got my hands on those dark chocolate truffles there would be no stopping me.

Here's One I Made Earlier

Obviously I have had a severe lack of funds to buy more jump rings for a little while so I have been playing around with what I have. I really don't know how I ended up with SOOO many purple jump rings but as I was sick of looking at them sitting there and didn't want to make more purple items for my shop I decided to make something for myself. It's just a simple double spiral chainmaille weave necklace (choker).

I also noticed that despite the fact that I love copper, I really didn't have that many pairs of copper earrings in my own collection. With the new job we are only allowed to wear small earrings though I have noticed quite a few people don't follow that rule (lol). I had been wanting to make another pair of these earrings for myself and I finally sat down the other day and did it. They are woven in a variation of byzantine weave called romanov. Basically it is just two sections of the byzantine weave, connect at each end with a slightly bigger jump ring and add a lovely Swarovski crystal in between. I used 6mm crystals and they were some freebies I got but I think the color is Siam though it is hard to tell in the photo as well as in person. It's such a dark red but really pretty with the copper.

Needless to say, I have plenty of ideas running around my head for projects it's just getting the rings to play around. One thing I really want to do is play with some really thick gauge rings, like 14, to make some chunky jewelry. Hopefully I will be able to get those and of course, I'll post any and all new projects here.
